CITY L.I.T.E Program
City Learning through Innovation, Technology & Experiential Education (L.I.T.E.) Program Overview
Due to the most recent COVID-19 pandemic, technology has become a priority for many companies throughout the world. As a result of this, government entities, corporations, and organizations require individuals to possess technological skillsets that position them to be a driving force in our highly competitive and evolving globalized workforce.
The STEAM-based courses and activities that are offered via the City L.I.T.E. Program are designed to meet the technology demands of employers. We offer Intro, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced level curriculums. We are able to meet the needs of all program participants regardless of their overall level of competencies in the area of technology. With this being taken into consideration, the more challenging the course…the more complex the deliverables. This new workforce development approach, which focuses on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, is critically important because individuals gain technological skills which are necessary for them to pursue careers in STEAM-driven industries.
What differentiates us from the competition is the fact that we have established a team of experts that specialize in providing STEAM-based services within underserved communities. By doing so, we are able to address the disproportionate diversity gap that is significantly prevalent in the tech industry.
According to U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) statistics, African-American professionals represented 9.3% of the professional high-tech workforce and Hispanic professionals represented 8.2%.
Individuals that have participated in courses (offered by our team) have gone on to secure employment at highly reputable companies including
• Disney
• Lucas Films
• Warner Brother Games
•High Voltage Games
• Activision (the Largest Online Game Community that created Call of Duty)
What makes our program unique?
● We provide program participants with the opportunity to develop individualized STEAM projects.
● We integrate hands-on group projects and activities into the program so that participants can understand how to work in a team-based environment.
● Program participants that engage in our intermediate and advanced courses can acquire the technical skills needed to prepare them for entrepreneurial opportunities and/or securing equitable employment in the tech industry. ● Our courses are innovative and require participants to utilize higher-order critical thinking skills consisting of a collegiate-level curriculum.
● Our program focuses on underserved communities and ways in which they can ultimately enhance their personal development and growth.
● We also have the capability to offer boot camps and other training opportunities.
